I went out to the garden this morning and found my lilac in bloom a month early. Last week’s heat wave must have forced it. I don’t usually take loving pictures of flowers, but this seems so out of context. In fact, it seems so crazy that I decided to alter the image…after all isn’t this project about observation, exploration and creativity?

lovely photography susan!
Thanks, Warren. It looks better altered.
Neat-you’ve made it look like a silk bloom!
Its a real forcing chamber here at the moment in UK.
But its also stimulating the piunters who were dithering over designs!
Best Wishes
Robert
O lordy. I hate silk flowers! Everything here is out of wack. Crazy weather.
Altering images = fun!
Lilacs I equate with East Coast & Midwest, but I was sent a new lilac variety to trial… ‘Bloomerang’ and it’s currently in bloom. Still a wee plant, but lots of blooms.
Seems strange to me, even though I know there are specific lilacs hybrids for the West Coast.
btw We are having the wettest weather… a real la Nina year! xo Alice
Actually, despite all of their issues – deer, blooms too high to see, and powdery mildew – lilacs are still one of my old-fashioned favorites! Glad you can have some there.
So what did you do to alter it? It feels like spring sprang while I was in Boston. It was 95 degrees on the Wed. I drove in to set up. I came home to an explosion of green! (My lilacs aren’t even in bud though.)
I posterized it in PhotoShop.
